This may be our last chance to take a stand for federal hunger relief programs before the Super Committee makes its recommendations to Congress.

Final decisions are being made right now, and the stakes are high.

... You can help your legislators understand that cuts to our anti-hunger programs will drastically impact the children, seniors, and vulnerable families in your community—and the local food banks they depend on. Here's how.

To Call your Members of Congress TODAY simply follow the simple steps below:

· Dial the toll-free number—1-877-698-8228

· When prompted, enter your zip code.

· Listen to the brief instructions, and you will be patched through to your Senator's office automatically.

Once you've been connected to the first office, deliver this message:

Please weigh in with the Super Committee personally and urge them to reject any proposals that would cut anti-hunger programs like SNAP, TEFAP, CSFP, or WIC or other child nutrition programs during the deficit reduction process. Our nation cannot afford to increase hunger in America.

After the call, stay on the line. You will be automatically connected to your remaining legislators' offices.

Thank you in advance for taking action! Please ask your volunteer, clients, friends and family to do the same.

Hi Everyone,

As you know the Bread of Life FP shops for some of their food at the Food Bank SJ. Lately Donations of food and money have been down and the decrease in federal foods available have been down too, We now have been shopping for most of our food at local grocery stores. This has hit every Food Pantry and even the Food Bank SJ very hard. :(

Just recently we got a call from the FBSJ for a Food Bank - Mandatory Meeting Nov. 2. We also recieved an -e-mail stating...

During this meeting and press conference we will be discussing the challenges we have all been experiencing due to the decrease in federal foods available. Additionally, there will an announcement about recent funding losses and possible changes as a result of these losses.

Press and local and state representatives will be in attendance. It is imperative every member send a representative on November 2nd at 11 am. Also, to help the public understand the full impact of these cuts and losses it is preferred that every member bring a client. This will help the public and our area representatives to see just how many organizations and people are being negatively affected by these losses.

If you can, try to bring a client. Also, if you are willing to speak about your program, the needs of your community and the impact the decrease in TEFAP has had on your agency let me know that to! Your support in this matter is critical and I truly hope.

We will up date you on what happened at the meeting and what the out come will be.

 Thank you, :)
