Bread of Life

COFFEEHOUSE FUNDRAISER

The First United Methodist Church in Moorestown, NJ has formed a Coffeehouse. We will be starting our fourth season this fall. Last May was the first year that we sponsored the Bread of Life Food Pantry. Our plan for this October is to sponsor the local food pantries. We will be sponsoring the pantry at Bethel AME Church in Moorestown, the one at St. Mathew’s Church in town, ...and the “Bread of Life” ...Food Pantry. We were blessed to have some of your members come out last May. This will also be an opportunity for representatives of the food pantries to briefly address those in attendance to talk about the work that is being accomplished. And, we’d love for you to invite members of your congregation and supporters in the community. There is no admission fee; however, we have a donation box for the specific organization of each month, and have found people to be very generous. We also charge a small fee for hot chocolate, bottled water, and snacks; there is no charge for coffee or tea.Our October Coffeehouse will be on October 7th, Friday night. The doors open at 7:30, the music begins at 8:00, and we wrap up at 10:30. We ask a representative of each organization to briefly speak between the two sets of music, which would be about 8:45 or 9:00.
Come and enjoy a fun evening out.   Smile

WONDERFUL NIGHT OUT AT THE RIVERSHARKES FUNDRAISER

20110917 - My Birthday
I don't usually make a big deal of my birthday, except for noting that it's also Constitution Day (the REAL birthday of the USA). Well, Mary Anne and I attended a fundraising event to benefit the Bread of Life Food Pantry, being held at the Diamond Club at Campbell's Field (Camden NJ), home of the Atlantic League's Camden Riversharks. A great day and a great way to help out a very worthwhile cause that we've supported for several years. Well, Mary Anne conspired with Gina Kelly to turn this into a great birthday for me. As part of the fundraising event, the Food Pantry was allowed to supply one of the people to throw out one of the ceremonial first pitches. Gina set that up for me to do. Gina also helped Mary Anne get a birthday cake for me through the Rivershark's food service vendor. The cake, all done up in the Rivershark's colors was delicious. After our group had its fill, I set up the rest of the cake for others to enjoy. I also had a couple of pictures taken with Finlay, the Rivershark's mascot. I'll post them as soon as I get them. Thank you to everyine for the warm birthday wishes. Oh, the Riversharks lost 7-3.

                                                                                          A BIG SUCCESS ! !

$3,700 were raised for the Pantry

Over 109 people enjoyed a great evening out.  The food was delicious, the music grand, and the auction prizes delighted everyone.  Some surprises of the night included a $2,000 contribution from Judy Matthews in memory of her granddaughter, Kasey, who passed in 2009.  Thank you Mattthews family for all you do for the pantry.

And the big auction ticket of the night, a stay at the Rosvold's Nantucket  residence, went to none other than Eagle Scout Nick Zampitella, the very Scout who made our initial pantry renovation possible.  We thank everyone who attented
